then you’re victorious

If you have a guiding light,
Then you’re victorious.

If you have spark to ignite,
Then you’re victorious.

If you have that unquestionable spirit,
Then you’re victorious.

If you do not rely on your merits,
Then you’re victorious.

If you have that fire in you,
Then you’re victorious.

If you the zeal and sinew,
Then you’re victorious.

If you have the fanatic gleam in your eyes,
Then you’re victorious.

If you can withstand both shock and surprise,
Then you’re victorious.

If you have the will in your heart,
Then you’re victorious.

If you fail, and from scratch you start,
Then you’re victorious.

cobus potgieter ~ a tribute

Posted: December 16, 2011 by KRISHNA in Biography Poems

Just a normal guy at college,
He did not have drumming knowledge.

A music lover, in his teen
Received the fame which was unforeseen.

At the drums, he tried his hand,
Started off as an individual, unassociated with any band.

He uploaded his drumming on YouTube,
Now his talent went far out of his cube.

Of his history, I’ll tell you no more,
But I’ll tell you what he has in store.

He’s got enormous skill,
He’s got huge power of will.

He has the perfect timing,
(He never gets tired of signing.)

Self-taught, as he is,
He’s got the perfect showbiz.

His unsurpassed drumming,
To his fans, is greatly overwhelming.

A brilliant drummer by art,
But a “specifically” good human at heart.

In his drumming is true passion,
For his fans, he has large compassion.

He has a “bajillion” subscribers on his YouTube channel,
He’s a widely acclaimed member of the judges panel.

Deedlebag“, as he is known online,
His music is epically divine.

By letting his drumming unfurl,
His talent has been recognized all over the world.

(My friends and I are your biggest fans in India,
Please take a tour of India and the rest of Asia.
)

He uses every cymbal on his kit,
He fills beats where its best fit.

The guy, whose drumming — all over the world sizzles,
Is Cobus Potgieter, who always gives great free “shizzle“.

the funny shop

Posted: December 14, 2011 by KRISHNA in Kid's Poems

I went to the shop and asked for a carrot,
They gave me a parrot.

I went to the shop and asked for a mango,
They made me do tango.

I went to the shop and asked for a football,
They took me to the Central Mall.

I went to the shop and asked for a ring,
They made me sing.

I went to the shop and asked for an ink pen,
Instead of one, they gave me ten.

I went to the shop and asked for a clock,
They gave me a white sock.

I went to the shop and asked for a car,
They gave me a chocolate bar.

I went to the shop and asked for a shirt,
They gave me a skirt.

I went to the shop and asked for a phone,
They gave me a free loan!

It all started in 2007,
Each person had to choose a team of eleven.

The number of teams were eight,
August 17th was the auction date.

Lalit Modi was the man in-charge,
The amount of money he spent was large.

It started with Royal Challengers Bangalore,
Its owner was Vijay Mallya — riches galore.

Deccan Chargers was on number two,
Adam Gilchrist was the captain of the crew.

The team Kolkata Knight Riders was good,
Its owner was Shahrukh Khan, the King of Bollywood.

Rajasthan Royals was a lucky team,
They fulfilled the IPL ’08 Cup dream.

The team in yellow was Chennai Super Kings,
Every match of the team was absorbing.

Delhi Daredevils was next in line,
Both their bowlers and batsmen were fine.

Kings XI Punjab are no less,
The team is symbolized by a logo on the chest.

Sachin Tendulkar — the greatest batsman — is the captain
Who led a brilliant team – Mumbai Indians.

Rajasthan Royals won in 2008,
Shane Watson will never forget that date.

2009 was a glorious year
For the men in blue, Deccan Chargers.

In 2010, the final was between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings,
Their better performance brought them closer to winning.

There were cheerleaders also,
They kept dancing throughout the show.

League 2010 is now gone, but there’s another season,
You can’t tell who’ll win, without any reason.

indian cricket team

Posted: December 1, 2011 by KRISHNA in Other Poems

The men in blue,
They have eleven in the crew.
Their current coach is Gary Kirsten,
He was a former cricketer, a South African.
The ICT has an excellent batting and bowling team,
Triumph, is what they dream.
The opening batsmen are Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar,
The pair is often called “Delhi Hero” and “Master Blaster“.
Next in line is Gautam Gambhir, ICC Cricketer of 2009,
His batting is out of the world; his bowling is fine.
Virat Kohli’s the new boy in town,
He’ll never let the name of India down.
The cool and consistent captain and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni comes,
You’ll hear excited fans chanting his name or beating the drums.
Not to forget, the “Sher of Punjab“, Yuvraj Singh,
Thirty-six runs in an over and many other laurels did he bring.
Now the tail gets exposed,
The batting lineup is closed.
ICT’s bowlers are an ace,
From left-arm orthodox through spin to pace.
We have five in the list,
They are good with their wrists.
Harbhajan Singh is a veteran spinner,
He thinks himself to be a great winner.
The tallest man in cricket I think is Ishant Sharma,
By his bowling, he creates an everlasting trauma.
Another veteran is Zaheer Khan,
His bowling is brilliant, and he’s a big fan of Shahrukh Khan.
For Sreeshanth, I have no words to express,
He’s an aggressive bowler; and sometimes his anger goes excess.
Another addition is Suresh Raina, a batsman,
With that, the top eleven comes to an end.

dream on!

Posted: November 23, 2011 by KRISHNA in Philosophical Poems

Dreams, just as they are,
They flow free and far.
These dreams are like the endless sky,
Untouched as they go high.
Dreams come true“, they say.
Dreamers are many, successful a few“, they say.
Follow your dreams, even though the world would criticize you;
Do not give in, start anew.
You can survive in this evil world,
If you let your dreams unfurl.
Dreams are like the vast ocean,
Filled with love, anger, and endless emotion.
No one can question your dreams,
Even though as impractical as they may seem.
These dreams, none but you can decipher,
But remember, you are not the lone survivor.
Dream, only then you will achieve,
Or else, these dreams, you can never retrieve.
In life, there may be falls, there may be rises;
Just believe in your dreams, ignore the harmful devices.
Dreams are like the open green meadows,
Follow these dreams, be in their shadows.
Dreams at first, a fantasy the may look,
But hang on to them — like a rope hangs on to a hook.
Dreams can get you fame and success,
Do not lose hope, even if you are suppressed.
At the end, if you are gone wrong,
Let all go, and dream on!

lahar, the drummer

Posted: November 20, 2011 by KRISHNA in Biography Poems

A drummer by talent,
He’s big and he’s gallant.
A YouTuber by profession,
Food’s his obsession.
(Dass wassup,
Don’t laugh, just shut up.)
Comes he from East India,
But hails he from Atlanta in Georgia.
He puts up a mohawk every morning,
But it fails to stay even before evening.
He ”planks” in class, he planks fearlessly,
He watches random vlog videos by CTFxC.
As he is called on YouTube, THEMASKEDDRUMMER1,
By his unsurpassed drumming, he stuns everyone.
He’s known in the class as the “hump-back whale“,
He buys drumsticks at wholesale.
This co-founder of “LunchTimeFoodBattle
Has many stories and loves to prattle.
His greatest influence is Cobus, the South-African drummer,
He wants to take his drumming higher and higher.
He’s my greatest friend and a brother from another mother,
We call him as we all know him by his name Lahar.

my sister and her giant books

Posted: November 19, 2011 by KRISHNA in Other Poems

My sister and her giant books,
I get frightened by their looks.
I wonder what’s there in those “thousand pages”,
To finish the book, it must have taken ages!
A book is like five novels together bound,
One book must weigh a thirty pounds!
Each page is terrible,
For me, its illegible.
I wonder who wrote this novel,
Its above a human’s IQ level.
All the books have two volumes each,
Its chapters are as vast as a beach.
I stare at my sister in bewilderment,
For she cannot control her excitement.
My sister has thirteen of these epics,
Each one is as firm as a brick.
“My sister and her giant books.”

golden anniversary

Posted: November 19, 2011 by KRISHNA in Philosophical Poems

Golden anniversary is a time
To remember those golden classic moments,
Spent together.

(Mind you,
There are others too.
There are many in the family crew.)

Starting from parents to grandparents,
Through sons and daughters,
Who brought all the family laughter.

From in-laws to aunts,
From uncles to cousins,
Happiness and joy they bring.

Fifty years have gone past,
So smoothly, so fast,
This line of the poem is the last.

a gloomy day

Posted: November 19, 2011 by KRISHNA in Philosophical Poems

It was the start of a gloomy day,
Not a ship was seen at bay.

I couldn’t feel the sun’s heat,
I felt like a prisoner trapped between walls of concrete.

I couldn’t even see the orb of the sun,
I just wanted to go out and run.

I couldn’t hear the chirping of birds,
All the cows were resting in herds.

I felt as if the sun had been captured by the grey clouds,
Suddenly, I heard thunder clear and loud.

I couldn’t see a boy in the street,
They really missed the sun’s light and heat.

I couldn’t even smell the fresh air,
All this made me despair.

I wondered when the sun will shine,
And every cloud would have a silver line.
